Axure RP 9 – Pricing, licences & subscription

What is the pricing for Axure RP 9 and which licensing types are available?

If you are UX/UI professional and you are considering purchasing Axure RP 9 for your practice, there’s a several pricing options you need to consider.

Axure’s pricing in the past

In the past, Axure used to have very simple pricing: they was one time payment for the license. With older versions – if I remember it correctly – it was even possible to upgrade for free to newer versions if you had the license. With one or two versions back they decided that the license was valid only for the current version and if you wanted to upgrade, you needed to pay for it (Not the whole price as for a new license but it was no longer free).

Axure’s pricing now

Pricing options are from my point of view more complicated than used to be.

You can get subscription or perpetual license for Axure. It’s up to you to decide which one is better. Below you can find quick comparison between both options.

If you need more, want extra security and other options, you should go for enterprise level. In this case you need to get in touch with Axure sales to get pricing according to your needs.

In terms of features you’ll get the same features as with Axure RP 9 Team license and a few more:

  • Unlimited Projects
  • User Management and Single Sign-On
  • Company Domain for Internal Member Use
  • Private or On-Prem Security

Perpetual licensing options for Axure RP 9

If you don’t want to pay every month for Axure, you should definitely look into perpetual license. With this there’s one time fee for the app. As for the features, they are the same as in the table above. Only difference here is really the price:

  • Axure RP 9 Pro: $495 / user
  • Axure RP 9 Team: $895 / user

I will do the math instead of you: perpetual licenses start to make sense if you plan to stick to the current version of Axure at least 17 months.

If you get the perpetual license now, you’ll have all updates for Axure RP 9 for free. But once Axure 10 is introduced, you have to pay (or you can keep your version 9).

When you go for traditional subscription, you always have the latest version available no matter what. So it would mean if Axure 10 is introduced, you can download and use it immediately without paying anything else than subscription.
